I’ll get straight to the point.
I’ve decided to resume my blog after more than a decade of absence. No CMS convinced me; I ended up fed up with WordPress. A few months ago, I revisited it for another project and ended up tremendously disappointed and exhausted. What happened to that fast-publishing platform with simple templates? What a nightmare. In a way, it has enshitificated.
I even tried static site generators, but they seemed too complex, and the setup time and learning curve felt steep. I switched from WordPress to Pelican and wasn’t convinced by that either. Along the way, I removed most of the entries from my blog.
I even considered building my own static site generator in Python, since with a few basic libraries (Markdown in particular) I already had almost everything I needed. However, I have little time (I already have more than enough personal projects), so I set that aside too.
Then I discovered SilverBullet.md and was immediately hooked—both for its simplicity in maintenance and writing. It’s described as something like "a note-taking system for people with a hacker mindset" or similar, and that’s not far off. It fits me perfectly, and I feel I can spend more time writing than maintaining the site (I wrote this post in minutes). Fingers crossed... 🤞🏻
Update: I realized I didn’t actually know how to create blog pages smoothly. It was as if I had to manually create pages with their dates, etc. And I was looking for something more intermediate. I know some people run their blogs with SilverBullet, but I see it as more suited for personal notes or wikis.
Finally, I took the plunge and built this site with AI (yes, vibecoded). I don’t remember if it was me or the AI itself that named this mini blogging app Blogo, which I’ll write about later. But it fits my needs, and since I’ve been iterating on it (rather than programming it from scratch...), it has a zero learning curve.
What this site is not
It’s hard for me to define this site, because that would pigeonhole it into something specific (a blog about topic X, a site with content Y)... and that would somehow be limiting and restrictive if what I ultimately want is to write about anything.
However, I can say what this site is not:
- This site is not a blog for attracting visitors.
- This site content (post, pages) is not made with AI. It makes no sense to use it when what I seek is precisely to express myself (which can even be therapeutic).
- This site does not pursue any specific purpose or determined goal. My opinions today may be different tomorrow. The only thing that doesn’t change is the facts.
Otherwise...
I will write in Spanish (Castilian for some), because I haven’t done so in a long time and I want to exercise my mind in my native language. Maybe later I’ll publish translations into other languages (these, yes, made with AI) To keep it bilingual with English as a second language, I’ll do the translations with AI and review them manually.
See you soon.
